whale.day is built to be read, not to harvest your data. This page explains what we collect, what we do not, and why.

What we collect

  • Search terms. When you use on-site search, we log the query and the number of results so we can see what readers are looking for and write better coverage. We do not attach your name or an account to it.
  • Usage analytics. We use PostHog, a product analytics tool, to understand how the site is used in aggregate (which pages are read, how people move through them). It relies on cookies and local storage. We use it to improve the site, not to identify you personally.
  • Standard server logs. Like most websites, our host records basic request information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service running and secure.
  • Your theme choice. If you switch between light and dark mode, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. It never reaches our servers.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not build advertising profiles on you or track you across other websites.
  • We do not require an account to read anything on the site.

Advertising

We do not show third-party display ads today. We may add advertising in the future (for example, Google AdSense), which can use cookies to serve and measure ads. If and when we do, we will update this page.

Affiliate links and third parties

Some comparison and review pages contain affiliate links to exchanges, wallets, and tools. If you click one and visit that company, their own privacy policy and cookies apply on their site. We also load live market data from third-party price sources; those requests are made by our servers and do not pass your information along.

Your choices

You can browse without accepting cookies, clear your local storage at any time, and use your browser’s privacy controls. If you have a question about your data, reach us through the contact page.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top.
